Puget Sound Starts Here (PSSH) raises awareness of how our everyday actions impact waterways in the Puget Sound region and what we can do to prevent pollution. We rely on clean water for our wellbeing and so do salmon, orcas, and other wildlife that live in our shared habitat.
Rain washes pollution from car leaks, car wash soaps, pesticides, fertilizers, and pet waste into storm drains, straight to local streams, lakes, rivers, and Puget Sound. What we do here has an impact on our local waterways and, eventually, on Puget Sound. By making small changes to our daily activities, we can keep this pollution out of our waterways.
Puget Sound Starts Here – “here” is where each of us live, work, and play. It’s our backyards. Our driveways. Our neighborhoods. Our homes. Our businesses. Our small actions make a big difference!
Partners working together The Puget Sound Starts Here campaign is a collaborative impact approach. Partners include federal, state and local governments, tribes, nonprofit organizations and businesses dedicated to protecting Puget Sound. The campaign promotes regional coordination and collaboration, using our individual group’s actions to make a big difference. Over 750 organizations across the Puget Sound region’s 12 counties are working to connect each of us with what we can do to help protect the Sound. Every action counts!
