What's already happening: King County has been a regional leader in the management of stormwater for more than 20 years with the goal of improving water quality in the Puget Sound region. The County implements numerous programs to avoid, reduce, and repair damages caused by the quantity and quality of stormwater runoff, including: reviewing development plans for stormwater controls, educating the public, inspecting construction sites for erosion and sediment controls, building and retrofitting stormwater control structures, inspecting businesses for stormwater pollutant source control, preventing illicit discharges and illegal dumping, and mandating pollution preventing controls on typical operations and maintenance activities.
